Last night, 11:45 pm, I was returning the gym’s key at the reception.

The guard got talking — late-night workouts disrupt sleep!

I asked his name,
Paul had joined recently.
He’s from Latvia.

When I told him I study English & Philosophy,
He said he loves philosophy.

In his words, “Not the Aristotle, Plato philosophy. But the kind where we ask ourselves who we are, why we are, and how we can make the world better.”

He said, “The subjects are good, but especially in Latvia, they wouldn’t help make money…”

He added, “…unless you can write a book!”

I smiled. Then I realised, I’d already written one!

Paul went into the office, brought out a paper & pen. I wrote down my ebook’s name.

He was really curious about the concept of an ebook & said he’d love to check it out.

This was such a random conversation: gyms to philosophy to ebooks.

Lesson?
Talk to people
Be curious
Ask questions
Learn about them.

We never know where our conversations can lead us.

What is your most memorable conversation?

P.S. Without meaningful conversation I believe we lose the ability to not only understand others but more importantly, ourselves.
