[Zoom into the picture and see the audience’s happiness!]
Last week I was walking on Grafton Street, heading back to my college after buying a new book.
While walking, I saw many artists playing different instruments; some singing along.
At the end of the street, I saw a crowd around two performers.
At first, I walked past, thinking it was just another song I wouldn’t know.
But then, I was curious: what are these 2 people doing that the other artists weren’t?
So I went back and stood there for 10 minutes.
Here’s what the two artists were doing:
1. Talking to the audience
2. Showing how different guitar chords sounded
3. Explaining how a loop pedal records and repeats the chords on loop
4. Involving the audience by asking them to clap
5. Looping the audience’s claps, further engaging them.
Basically, these 2 artists weren’t just singing, they were also adding value.
They were not just presenting their skills.
They were not teaching either.
They were showing how they do what they do.
You want to get engagement? Add value.
Value wins everywhere: online and offline.
