1. Recorded the audio 🎙
– Once my slide deck was ready, I recorded an “informal” audio of me presenting. This gave me an idea of the time, allowed me to revisit my “unexpected” punchlines, and also helped me edit the slide deck instantly.
2. Practised the actual pitch 👩🏻💻
– After finalising my slide deck based on step-1, I stood up and practised the pitch. I always timed myself so I didn’t exceed the 5-minute mark. I knew there would be a timer at the event, so I made sure to hit a certain slide by the 30-second countdown.
3. Walked around in heels 👠
– As odd as this may seem, wearing heels during the practise made a huge difference. I don’t normally wear heels, so this really helped develop the feel and comfort of heels. Oh, and I also held a hairbrush as a mic 🎤!
How do you practise for a business pitch?
